Shuri Castle (首里城, Shurijō) served as the administrative center and residence of the Ryukyu kings for several centuries until Okinawa became a Japanese prefecture in 1879. The last time I went to shuri castle was in 2018, after that in 2019 because of electrical malfunctions fire destroyed most all of the buildings specially the main one. Shurijo Castle symbolizes the history and culture of Okinawa, and its history is that of the Ryukyu Kingdom itself. The interiors of the castle buildings can be explored by visitors in a circular route, beginning with the Nanden.

Some facilities in Shurijo Castle Park continually closed until Saturday, September 5, 2020. Visited on June 2019. Love this castle so much especially the outlook. The coronavirus outbreak is having a large impact on travel to and within Japan.
